Abstract

Fishery households face complex challenges in financial management due to the fluctuating and unpredictable nature of their income. This community service program aims to improve the capacity of fishery housewives in managing family finances through financial literacy training and the implementation of a simple cash flow recording system. The activity partner is the Poklahsar Joint Business Group in Kuala Jambi, Tanjung Jabung Timur, which consists of 50 fisher households. The implementation method uses a participatory approach through structured training, distribution of simple cash books, and periodic mentoring. The results of the activity showed an increase in financial literacy from 29.7% at the beginning to 75%, and 80% of participants were able to keep consistent financial records. This program also succeeded in forming 5 independent study groups and a savings and loan group with a low interest rate of 2% per month as an alternative to loan sharks. The measurable economic impact was a reduction in dependence on informal financial institutions and the formation of regular saving habits. This program made a real contribution to the achievement of the SDGs, particularly poverty alleviation and sustainability in the fisheries sector, and produced an empowerment model that can be replicated in other coastal areas.
