Urea Mineral Lick Block (UMLB) Animal Feed Supplement at Raudhatul Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School, Tangkit Baru Village

Abstract

Urea Mineral Lick Block is an additional feed or supplement that is very useful for cattle, goats, sheep (ruminant livestock) that contains high energy, protein and minerals. This community service aims to apply Urea Mineral Lick Block (UMLB) at the Raudhatul Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School, Tangkit Baru Village. The provision of UMLB is to increase feed fermentability for the purpose of increasing livestock productivity. The main target to be achieved in the activity is an effort to increase academic knowledge and ruminant productivity at the Raudhatul Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School, Tangkit Village. The approach through the application of UMLB which is rich in minerals combined with secondary metabolites from plants such as ginger which can stimulate appetite and feed fermentability has been proven to improve performance and health in ruminant livestock. This activity is carried out through 3 stages, namely; preparation stage, implementation stage and evaluation. Activities in the preparation stage include; a) exploration of activities between partners and the community service implementation team to agree on the time of implementation of the activity, b) division of farmer group members for feed making practices. Implementation activities include; 1) Before the practice, all farmers will be given a pre-test to determine their initial abilities before the practice. 2) counseling and practice or training. Evaluation activities; evaluations carried out at the beginning and after completion of practice and training, the purpose is as an indicator of the success of the activity. The results of the implementation of community service activities through the implementation of the use of UMLB significantly (P <0.05) increased the knowledge of the academic community and weight gain in ruminant livestock at the Raudhatul Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School, Tangkit Village. The conclusion is that the use of UMLB as a feed supplement for ruminant livestock can provide real benefits in increasing livestock productivity and health.
