Efforts to Handle Avian Influenza in Village Chickens in Tangkit Baru Village, Sungai Gelam District, Muara Jambi Regency

Abstract

Bird Flu (Avian Influenza/AI) is a dangerous category I disease that can attack birds and humans. Bird Flu, which is often known as Fowl plaque, is an infectious disease caused by the influenza virus which attacks various birds, including land and water birds. The aim of this community service is to provide knowledge to students at the Raudhatul Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School, Tangkit Baru Village, Sungai Gelam District, Muaro Jambi Regency, how to prevent transmission and anticipate the transmission of bird flu. Apart from that, to increase the knowledge of the community and female students, especially at the Raudhatul Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School, Tangkit Baru Village, Sungai Gelam District, Muaro Jambi Regency, in increasing knowledge and also profits for the livestock community in order to meet family needs and provide good quality food for the family and the wider community.  The method used in this community service is direct counseling and discussion, while the target group is free-range chicken farmers and female students at the Raudhatul Muhajirin Islamic Boarding School located in Tangkit Baru Village, Sungai Gelam District, Muaro Jambi Regency. It is hoped that farmer farmers will be interested and can develop the business of raising free-range chickens so that they obtain a source of animal protein that is always available, cheap and highly nutritious.  This service activity explains efforts to prevent bird flu which consists of: Sanitation, Biosafety, Biosecurity, Disinfection, Desinsectization, Fumigation, Isolation and Traffic control. In conclusion, it can be seen that there has been an increase in farmer knowledge in efforts to handle Avian Influenza in free-range chickens in Tangkit Baru Village, Muaro Jambi Regency.
