Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems are coastal vegetation that have many roles and functions in ecology. This condition encourages public awareness of the role and function of the mangrove ecosystem itself in coastal areas and at the level of fisheries production as a source of livelihood for fishermen. The target audience for this community service activity is fishermen's households in Kuala Jambi District, East Tanjung Jabung, Jambi Province. This community service activity was carried out using lecture and discussion methods. During the activity, participants enthusiastically followed and discussed efforts to conserve mangrove ecosystems. This community service activity explains several important points such as the ecological and economic functions of the ecosystem, the impacts caused by a decrease in mangrove ecosystem cover areas, and emphasis on mangrove planting activities as a conservation effort. As well as oceanographic factors that will affect the success rate of mangrove planting.
